Weekend Out West I: Utah

Traveling to the west coast usually looks like Cali or Vegas for me, but this time I traveled to the west coast for a different type of vibe, and fell in love with...Utah! I typically love tropical, coastal terrains, but I’m always up for something new, in the name of travel. Utah came about because my best friend wanted a COVID friendly, girl’s trip, for her 30th birthday, that channeled luxury, Solange’s last album, and allowed for us to serve endless looks. Glam, urban cowgirls, with lots of scenery and, alas, Utah it was!

Just an aside: at the time of this trip (October 2020), Utah had no quarantine or COVID testing requirements to visit. Most sites and tourist areas were open, with the exception of Native American reservations and tribal sites, including outdoor sites, because of increased risk of transmission to the natives. Understood and was not mad because ya know history, so we didn’t experience that part of Utah.

Weather wise, October was the perfect time of year to visit! During the day temperatures were around 70-80 degrees, and during the early morning and late night, around 45-60 degrees, with sunset around 7 pm. It was very comfortable weather to explore during the day. However, it did make packing tricky for me, basically having to pack for fall and winter.

For a weekend trip, time was of the essence, so we chose sites based on what made sense when we mapped out the distances. As the planner in my friend groups (hence the travel blog), I helped draft the itinerary for us, based on my bestie’s ideas and she came up with our lookbook/themes for the different sites. All of this made navigating through Utah seamless, and allowed us to pack the right looks for exploring and for our photoshoots.

I have compiled a list of sites to visit, areas to stay in and inspo for looks to serve based on my experience, some personal recommendations, and good ol’ google. I’m making this Utah blog a 2 part post: in part one, I’m giving you my ideas and inspiration leading up to the trip and in part two, my itinerary and travel tips. Utah is perfect for any type of traveler from budget to bougie, chill to adventurous and can definitely be done in just a weekend. Honestly, truly, you really can’t go wrong if you follow my guide!

This is a shareable space, so feel free to share, comment, and add suggestions for these and other activities, sites, and areas to visit in Utah. Enjoy!
