About Me

Hey, I’m Steph aka The Travel Jawn, your soon-to-be travel bestie and go-to travel sis for advice, content, destination ideas, and more! I’m a healthcare professional by day, born, raised, and living in Jersey, by way of Nigeria (1st gen). I’m so passionate about having a life outside of work and day-to-day responsibilities. Have you been outside lately?! Life is stressful at every turn! We need balance. For me, that involves a variation of self care, time with friends and family, attending various events and traveling.

I started traveling when I was young, with my family, and my first trip abroad was to London and Nigeria in 1999. I remember being so fascinated by everything from the airport to the plane to seeing new places and customs. Since then, my desire to see and do more beyond where I called home, grew exponentially.

Fast forward to now, I’ve traveled to over 30 countries, many of them multiple times, and continue to feed my curiosity and love for exploring new destinations and cultures. My travels have led me to some pretty cool destinations, events and to link up with amazing people worldwide. Some of my travels include: The Yacht Week in Croatia, Beychella (Coachella) in California, Afrofuture in Ghana, and various group trips to countries such as Antigua and Morocco. The experience I’ve gained from discovering different countries and people is something I hope can inspire others to experience for themselves. I could truly go on forever about how life changing traveling is, but I’ll end here for now, and leave you with one of my favorite quotes from the late traveler and chef, Anthony Bourdain:

"As you move through this life and this world, you change things slightly; you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life--and travel--leaves marks on you.”

On the blog, I’ll be providing travel itineraries, group trip reviews, insight on events worldwide, travel tips, thoughts on my perspective as a black female traveler and more!
