Part II: The Execution

Meet the plug. Travel deal sites are the gateway to finding great flight deals. Just go to the website, select an origin city or country, and browse for deals. Not bad, right? Now, I’m not always searching for deals, they often find me lol. How? Follow flight deal company sites such as The Flight Deal (see more below) on social media platforms such as Instagram or Twitter and/or sign up for email alerts. The deals will easily fall into your lap! The hard part will be picking which deal to cop first.
The Flight Deal
Search engines are key. Often times, you can book flight deals directly through flight deal sites to an airline. Other times the booking may be through a third party booking site or through flight search engine. No matter how you snag a deal, you can search and match the deals you find with suggested dates on Google Flights (see more below). Sometimes you can manipulate the dates to work for you and it works out perfectly, other times, not so much but it doesn't hurt to give it a try. Skiplagged is another type of flight search engine, but it works by finessing airlines and flight routes to get you the best price. How do they finesse? Basically, you buy one way tickets and you may/may not skip the end destination on the ticket. Take a look and see what you think, but this is mainly for the savey, carryon only passengers.
Better safe than sorry: Double check what site you're booking with! No matter what deal I find, I use flight search engines to cross reference the booking. I know people who've gotten got by unknown travel agencies and third party discount booking sites, with strict terms and conditions and shifty cancellations policies.
Don’t knock it ‘till you try you it: So I use to be very skeptical of discount travel sites like Groupon Travel but I’ve heard some solid feedback regarding the travel deals on them. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet but if the right deal comes along, I just might!
